Trashi Penden

Trashi Penden, བཀྲ་ཤིས་དཔལ་ལྡན།, was born in Rinpung in central Tibet. In 1976, he left high school to return to his home village to teach in the local commune school. In 1985, he became a reporter and translator for the Tibet Daily newspaper, where he still works. He has published a novel and many novellas and short stories, all written in Tibetan. One of his work, Old Man Tsering’s Misunderstanding (Bgres song Tshe ring la go ‘dzol byung ba), is regarded as one of Tibetan “Scar Literature”. Among the works reproduced here, Tashi Pelden authored Tomorrow’s Weather Will Be Better. Yangdon Dhondup translated it from the Tibetan.
